In the week before the concert, young pianists under the age of 19 compete in a gruelling competition before a jury of experts for a place in the final round of the Hennie Joubert Piano Competition. Each finalist will perform a movement from a concerto with symphony orchestra, after which the 2024 gold medalist is announced.
