The UCT Ibuyambo Orchestra honours Madosini's musical journey and life narrative. Madosini, ‘The Veteran’, as she is popularly known in Mpondoland, was a great musician, composer, poet, storyteller and teacher. This performance called, “Umoya uthethile” (The spirit has spoken), seeks to recognize her contribution towards preserving Xhosa uhadi and umrhubhe bow music and culture. The Orchestra pays respect to her well-known repertoire, including “Uthando Luphelile” one of the most well-known songs from her first album The power to women.
The show is multimedia with a diversity of instruments, dance, singing and acting, celebrating Madosini’s lively character as a storyteller and performer
