A celebration of ballet, artistry and the next generation of dancers
Elite Ballet is proud to present Elite Encore, an inspiring showcase celebrating the dedication, artistry and development of its dancers, from its youngest students through to those undertaking intensive professional dance training.
The production will bring together dancers from across Elite Ballet in an evening of classical ballet, storytelling and original choreography.
A highlight of the production will be excerpts from the much-loved classical ballet Don Quixote, showcasing the energy, technique and artistry of Elite Ballet's dancers.
The Elite Ballet Junior School will present a special performance of Sergei Prokofiev's
Peter and the Wolf. Through this much-loved story, the younger dancers will explore character, musicality and storytelling through the art of ballet.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING – AFTER SCHOOL
A distinctive feature of Elite Ballet is its specialised Elite Programme, a methodology developed by Karen Beukes for senior dancers who have a passion for dance and aspire to become professional dancers.
The programme is specifically designed to work alongside the dancers' normal school education. Students attend Elite Ballet after school, generally from 3:30 pm.
The Elite Programme runs from Monday to Friday, with dancers undertaking approximately three hours of intensive training each afternoon.
Their training encompasses the broad range of disciplines required of a professional dancer, including classical ballet, stretching and strengthening, contemporary dance, repertoire, pas de deux and performance training.
The programme is designed to develop technically accomplished, versatile and well-rounded dancers while preparing them for the discipline and demands of a professional career in dance. Both boys and girls participate in the programme.
TRAINING FOR EVERY STAGE
Alongside the Elite Programme, Elite Ballet offers Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) training for younger students and for high-school learners who participate in ballet as an extramural activity.
These students generally attend ballet once or twice a week, providing a strong classical foundation while allowing them to balance their ballet training with their other school commitments.
This approach enables Elite Ballet to support dancers with different goals — from children discovering the joy of ballet to dedicated young dancers working towards the possibility of a professional career.
At the heart of the school is a commitment to developing not only technique, but also discipline, confidence, musicality, artistry and a genuine love of dance*.
Elite Encore brings these different stages of the Elite Ballet journey together on one stage, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the growth and achievements of its dancers.
The production promises an evening of beautiful dancing, captivating music and memorable performances, celebrating both the classical tradition of ballet and the future generation of dancers.
