Celebrating 24 Years of the Otter Estates Lonehill Fun Run

The Otter Estates Lonehill Fun Run celebrates its 24th anniversary this year, marking more than two decades of bringing the Greater Lonehill community together through fitness, fun and community spirit.

From its humble beginnings, when just over 100 participants made their way around the Lonehill neighbourhood, the event has grown into one of the highlights of the local community calendar, regularly attracting more than 800 runners and walkers.
 
Otter Estates has proudly been the title sponsor since the very first event, while the Lonehill Residents Association has played an integral role in organising and supporting the Fun Run over the years. Popular Sports Report and MC John Walland will once again be on the microphone, helping to create the vibrant atmosphere that participants have come to enjoy.

This year, the event returns to its original purpose – raising awareness and support for the revival of the Lonehill Dam. The Fun Run will once again start and finish at Lonehill Park in an afternoon time slot.

Today, the event offers a professional race experience while maintaining its friendly, family-focused atmosphere. Participants can look forward to online registration, clearly marked kilometre markers, a refreshment station along the route, fantastic spot prizes, and a variety of well-stocked food vendors at the venue.

The 2026 Otter Estates Lonehill Fun Run takes place on Saturday, 1 August 2026. The race starts at 15:00, with on-site registration and race number collection opening at 14:00.

Entry is R100 per participant, with babies in prams participating free of charge. The first 800 entrants will each receive a commemorative cotton tote bag filled with a surprise gift.
