The Odeion String Quartet celebrates 35 years of music-making with a special anniversary concert, marking its unique legacy as the only resident string quartet at a South African university. Established at the University of the Free State in 1991, the OSQ has become a cornerstone of South African chamber music.
This programme honours both the ensemble’s past and the music of our time. The Quartet performs Arthur Feder’s "The Tides Of…", a recently composed work written especially for them, alongside Benjamin Britten’s String Quartet No. 2 in C major, Op. 36, presented in the 50th anniversary year of Britten’s death.
The Odeion String Quartet features Samantha Durrant (violin), Sharon de Kock (violin), Jeanne-Louise Moolman(viola) and Anmari van der Westhuizen (cello). Award-winning and widely acclaimed, the OSQ are also custodians of the prestigious Quartet of Peace instruments. Join them for an evening of depth, reflection, and celebration.
