People Are Burning explores the dual meaning of a phrase deeply rooted in South African culture. Often associated with joy and celebration, they also reflect the quieter realities beyond the euphoria — the emotional, financial and personal struggles we carry after the lights go out.
Through music and performance, the show honours both sides of the fire: joy and pain, survival and celebration, for there is no yin without yang. An ode to the beauty and burden of being alive .
