30-year-old Italian pianist Filippo Gorini, hailed as “a heir to Pollini” (Corriere della Sera) and praised for his “brave, original playing” (The Guardian), is in Stellenbosch for five weeks of performances and outreach as part of his philanthropic project, Sonata for 7 Cities. With a poetic programme that journeys from a newly commissioned work to Schubert’s final sonata, this recital in Endler Hall is the centrepiece of his South African visit, marking the second stop in a tour that began at the Vienna Konzerthaus and will conclude at the Milan Conservatory.
His visionary multi-year project, The Art of Fugue Explored, has further solidified Gorini’s reputation not only as a performer, but as a musical innovator, engaging globally respected artists and composers. A recipient of Italy’s esteemed Premio Abbiati and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, Gorini’s recordings of Bach and Beethoven for Alpha Classics have earned widespread international acclaim, including a Diapason d'Or Award.Don’t miss this opportunity to witness Filippo Gorini’s profound musicianship live on stage — a recital certain to inspire and captivate.
