Over 150 years, Maties Rugby has built a powerful legacy. From that first match on Die Braak in 1875, the club has been a symbol of passion, pride and purpose. A true cradle of champions, Maties Rugby has delivered 187 Springboks to date. It remains the largest competitive rugby club in the southern hemisphere, with 900 players across 36 teams.

In addition, while honing their rugby talent, our student athletes are guided to build their leadership skills, graduate successfully and become engaged citizens and role models – equipped to excel and inspire.

Join us at a special event as we celebrate 150 years of excellence and raise bursary funds to support our student athletes and keep the momentum going. Your presence will help us raise R15 million to fund 150 bursaries – each a stepping stone for a young athlete to thrive both behind the books and the ball.
