‘A transformative evening of dance that elevates the soul’ Keith Bain, Daily Maverick
The programme opens with George Balanchine’s Allegro Brilliante, first choreographed in 1956 to Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No 3, Op 75. The ballet is known for it’s joyous and pure dance style, showcasing expansive romanticism and exuberant energy. whispers from within, by renowned Dutch choreographer Wubkje Kuindersma follows, set to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons recomposed by Max Richter. The programme continues with Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato’s REMANSO, a project made possible with the invaluable support of the Embassy of Spain in Pretoria and the Spanish Consulate in Cape Town.
The evening concludes with REVERIE, an ethereal masterpiece by Kirsten Isenberg, set to the lush and romantic strains of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
