WRITING AS THERAPY

About

Not only writers are destined to write, but many people write for therapy. The stories worth telling are not necessarily fiction. Memoir writing as a genre offers many possibilities and this workshop promises stimulating conversation. Zarine Roodt, with her academic background in writing therapy and two memoirs under her belt, leads the panel discussion with Lesedi Molefi, Adele Vorster, and Lynette van Zyl. Adele has a master’s degree in creative writing, and her story is told in her open-hearted debut novel Tien voor Een (2022). Lynette van Zyl is a clinical psychologist from Bloemfontein who is currently training to become a Jungian analyst.

Lesedi Molefi is a Soweto-born filmmaker, documentary filmmaker, photographer and copywriter whose intimate memoir, Patient 12A, reflects his time in a psychiatric clinic.
