The Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival is back! Crammed full of rehearsals, master classes, lectures, coaching sessions and concerts, this vibrant festival presents some of the most sublime and well-loved pieces from the chamber music repertoire along with South African and world premieres. An event of outstanding musicianship and a nurturing ground for young talent, where inspiration, education and world-class performance combine.

Festival Pass: Those who purchase a full set of 10 tickets, all at either full price (regular) or all at the student/pensioner price will receive a 20% discount on the full cost of the tickets. Such a purchase will constitute a Festival Pass. The Festival Pass will also entitle the holder to free entrance to public master classes, "in Conversation with" lectures and student concerts for which admittance is ordinarily R30 per event. Festival pass holders receive preferential seating for the Endler Hall concerts. Festival pass tariffs will automatically be applied at the checkout.

Sensemayà by the Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas opens this concert with the pulsating rhythms of South America. Soloists Andrey Baranov (violin) and Boris Andrianov (cello) join forces for the much-loved Brahms Double concerto. Borodin is known as one of the great five Russian nationalist composers that sought to avoid the influence of his European counterparts in creating music that was quintessentially Russian. His second symphony is arguably his most popular work.

Rossini’s overture to William Tell begins with a wonderful solo for 5 celli, followed by an instantly recognizable gallop that has become one of the favourite pieces of classical music of all time. Two pieces from Khachaturian’s ballet Spartacus follow. The second of these, Saber Dance, is also one of the genres most popular classics. Dvorák’s beautiful symphony number eight needs no introduction.
