Showcasing the National School of the Arts Dance Department, the SEPTEMBER SUITE takes to the stage.
The eclectic suite includes a spectrum of dance styles, from neo-classical ballet to contemporary, Afro-Fusion and Spanish.
Joining NSA educators and choreographers Laura Cameron (Contemporary) and Gillian Bonegio (Spanish) are Thami Tshabalala and Mark Hawkins, who also directs the season.
SEPTEMBER SUITE also features the top choreographies from the first quarter's Dance Celebration "Behind the Mask," giving audiences another opportunity of watching the work of emerging choreographers Chidera Nwoha and Creagan Martins in Grade 11 and Hatoentle Tema and Jaymé Golding in Grade 12. The latter's work, FOLLOW THE LIGHT, has been extended to include the entire matric dance class and will mark the last time the dance class of 2023 will perform together.
Dance Spectrum is the flagship production of the NSA Dance Department and will appeal to all dance lovers and supporters of youth arts. Many an NSA dancer is currently gracing a professional stage somewhere in the world. Seeing them stepping boldly into the spotlight is a memorable coming-of-age moment.
