Het haar man regtig ’n verhouding? Het haar gunstelingseun werklik huis toe gekom? Of het die eensaamheid Anna tot waansin gedryf? Die moeder (oorspronklik The Mother) is ’n boeiende portret van leënessindroom deur die bekroonde dramaturg Florian Zeller, wat ook The Father geskryf het.
Die moeder is vanjaar met drie kykNET Fiëstas bekroon: Beste feesproduksie, Beste regie (Christiaan Olwagen) en Beste spel in ’n hoofrol (Sandra Prinsloo). Dié produksie het ook vyf Woodtrofees-toekennings verower.

Motherhood is a full-time job, but the nest is now empty. Anna’s children are grown up and have lives and loves of their own. She spends her days alone, not knowing what to do with the extra hours. And something is slipping. Is her husband really having an affair? Has her favoured son truly come home? Or has loneliness driven Anna to madness? Die Moeder (originally The Mother) is a compelling portrait of a woman adrift in middle-age. Written by the playwright Florian Zeller, who also wrote the acclaimed play The Father.


Die moeder received kykNET Fiëstas Awards for Best Festival Production, Best Directing (Christiaan Olwagen) and Best Acting in a Lead Role (Sandra Prinsloo). The production also scooped up five Woodtrofees Awards.
