Poerpasledam

With Handri Loots (flute) and Mareli Stolp (piano)

Arnold van Wyk is one of South Africa’s most honoured composers. Poerpasledam is his only composition for flute and piano. The title is derived from a phonetic Afrikaans translation from the French saying, pour passer le temps (to pass the time). Works for flute and piano from South African composers are combined with other works created in times relating to our current circumstances: times of uncertainty, but also times of finding new hope. This recital is followed by a music discussion.
