Lephalale The Musical tells the story of Lephalale through music, dance and acting. It takes place in a village of Shongoane where a 17-year-old Phuti returns home from Tshwane after many years.
She was born in Lephalale but left Lephalale for Tshwane as a toddler with her parents. Growing up in the suburbs of Tshwane, she has no clue about her roots and culture. As she arrives in Shongoane she is welcomed by her Grandmother who astonished by her lack of respect and lack of knowledge about her culture.
Her grandmother (Mmatsebo) a 56-year-old vibrant woman takes her on a journey to the discovery of her culture. As she tells her about Lephalale and its rich culture and heritage.
