Two young men put their fiancées to the test by playing an elaborate prank to prove their faithfulness. Bearing the subtitle, ‘The school for lovers’, Mozart’s Così fan tutte is a powerful tale of love, temptation and fidelity. In a combination of glorious music and bittersweet comedy, improbable disguises and partner-swapping are put side-by-side with a more serious, even cynical, commentary on the inevitability of human frailty.
Reuniting the brilliant team responsible for 2019’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, this production is directed by Steven Stead and features Cape Town Opera Young Artists alongside talented singers from the University of Cape Town Opera School.
