In this 90-minute session, André Oelofse will show you how to harness your innate ability to neutralise nervous tension and master the art of true calm. The practice of Tai Chi Chuan releases your flow of inner confidence and vitality, reduces stress, increases energy levels, and improves mood, cardiovascular fitness and restorative sleep. If the weather allows, this session will be held outdoors in nature.

Diane Victor is an artist of uncompromising directness known for her provocative images that confront difficult, sometimes taboo, subjects. Her satirical observations are a biting critique on contemporary South African society, on political corruption, violence, gender inequality and economic exploitation.
Artist and curator Gordon Froud will talk about the work of this important artist, and the new monograph, Diane Victor – Prints, Drawings, Smoke, published by Mare & Martin, Paris. He will also touch on her upcoming museum shows in Dunkirk, Gravelines and Angouleme in France, and on her works made at the Atelier le Grand Village.

In this workshop you will be introduced to painting loose representational landscapes in oil and cold wax medium. Tracy Algar will demonstrate and explain how to use this novel medium to create interesting textures with brushwork, how to simplify shapes and work with a limited palette of colours, and how to approach painting alla prima (wet-on-wet). This workshop is not suitable for beginners.

In this fun, explorative workshop with internationally acclaimed South African ceramist Hennie Meyer, he will guide participants to build creative, three-dimensional clay constructions from clay slabs. The emphasis will be on finding new ways to engage with the process of handbuilding abstracted clay structures. The workshop will also include an illustrated presentation about the chronological development of Hennie’s own work, from teapots to installations. All materials will be supplied. The ticket price includes refreshments and a light lunch.

By popular request, Leanne Dryburgh and Peter Hassall of the photowalkers.com and wildwellness.co.za are back with a workshop for people who would like to learn how they can take better photographs with their cellphones. At the start of the workshop participants will be shown how to set up their phones, followed by a slide-show to explain light and composition. The rest of the workshop is a practical hands-on experience that takes the form of guided indoor and outdoor photography.

Mike will give examples, inter alia, of how mathematicians have inspired artists and how artists, from painters and writers to actors and musicians, have helped scientists to communicate urgent scientific messages to the public.

Hermanus FynArts proudly presents this spectacular showcase of unique and exciting music featuring the Charl du Plessis Trio with the FynArts Orchestra, conducted by Richard Cock.

The programme will include arrangements of music by classical composers, soothing film music sounds and big band jazz, as well as some new upbeat arrangements in diverse styles, ranging from rock and boogie to blues.

Ernest Shackleton’s ship Endurance was discovered perfectly preserved below the Antarctic ice in 2022, 106 years after it sank. Darrel Bristow-Bovey has had a personal connection to Endurance ever since his father first told him that he sailed south with Shackleton. History enthusiast James Gray will talk to Darrel about this stirring story, interwoven with very personal memoir to tell an inspiring tale about hope and great beauty, about how to love and how to survive.

Chef Lindi Perrin will share her love for all things French with classical flavours from a classical cuisine. Join her on a journey through the French countryside at this intimate dining experience. Three courses that are rich in tradition will be prepared with passion by Lindi and served at a communal table. A welcome apéritif served with an amusebouche will be followed by Soupe à l’Oignon Grantinée, Coq au Vin served with Pomme de Terre Persil, and Poire Belle Hélène.
