Born in the lively heart of Sophiatown, Johannesburg during the 1940s and 50s, this iconic movement combines daring fashion and pulsating music, embodying a resilient cultural identity that stood boldly against oppression.
Imagine the scene: sharply dressed men and women in tailored suits and flared dresses, tapping their polished shoes to the groundbreaking rhythms of Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela.

Inspired by the stylish, vintage 1950’s, Kofifi Style is more than fashion; it was an act of defiance. With every jazz note and marabi beat, Sophiatown's musicians and fashion icons crafted a legacy of resistance and dignity, leaving an indelible mark on South African culture.

These sounds and styles not only defined an era but continue to inspire global fashion and music scenes.

A kids corner is managed by Fit Muntuza (R50 per child) to keep the kids entertained too. Kids under 13 and Cyclists enter FREE.
Find Free Safe parking at 216 Sisulu street (012 Central Parking). More parking is available at the South African State Theatre which is a 140m walk from our main entrance in Helen Joseph Street.
