About

The Umgeni Water Marathon takes place in March every year during National Water Week. The event will be taking place at the Baynesfield Recreational Club which is approximately 21km outside Pietermaritzburg.

Event distances, start times and time limits:
42.2 km Run - 6am start - 5 hrs 30 mins
21.1 km Run -6am start - 3hrs 15 mins
14.475 km Run/Walk - 6:15am start - 2 hrs 30 mins

All entrants must collect their race number and t-shirt either on Saturday 28 March at Collegians Club between 14h00 and 17h00 or on Sunday 29 March at the start between 04h30 and 06h00.

There are two routes: 14.475 and 21.1 kms.
Marathon runners will have to complete two laps of the 21.1 km route. A scenic route along district road P334, the beautiful Baynesfield Estate and NCT Forest plantations. The road surface is mostly gravel but in good condition.
