The Charl du Plessis Trio returns to Fynarts for the release of their new album under Swiss record label Claves – Baroqueswing Vol. 2. Baroqueswing experiments anew with form, rhythm, and virtuoso arrangements of timeless music, bringing a refreshing energy to the stage.
In 1959 French pianist Jacques Loussier was the first ever to perform and record a jazz arrangement of the music of JS Bach. The Charl du Plessis Trio is the only South African ensemble to continue this crossover music tradition at a high artistic level, with Werner Spies and Hugo Radyn as musical partners for pianist Charl du Plessis, helping to form the music with bass and drums.
