Following its critically acclaimed debut at the National Arts Festival 2025, the ground-breaking dance production “Dusk to Dawn” makes its powerful Johannesburg debut — for one night only — in honour of Women’s Day.
“Dusk to Dawn” is a visceral and urgent choreographic response to the ongoing crisis of gender-based violence (GBV) in South Africa and beyond. Conceived and directed by world-renowned choreographers Jayd Swart and Phume Sikhakhane, and performed by the JOZIDANCE Professional Company, this work is a voice for the voiceless — a raw and compelling narrative of pain, survival, resistance, and hope.
Through fearless physicality, emotive storytelling, and evocative visuals, “Dusk to Dawn” confronts the devastating realities faced by countless women and girls, while offering space for healing and collective empowerment. With every movement, the performers channel the message: “No Means No”, bringing attention to the silenced stories that demand to be heard.
