Tribute to Dilip Kumar

Generally regarded as India’s greatest actor, Dilip Kumar brought realism to the Indian screen. He won 9 Filmfare awards as well as the Padma Vibhushan - the highest award his country could confer upon him. His very presence on the screen would endure mega success at the box office. Admired by his friends and colleagues as a perfectionist, he is regarded as the benchmark of Indian acting and his command of both the English and Urdu languages is legendary. He was a social activist and a keen promoter of education to the less privileged. Dilip Kumar expressed a keen desire to visit South Africa but this never materialized. Cape Town is honoured to pay tribute this great icon.
