The annual Design Indaba Festival is back! The highlight of South Africa’s creative calendar since 1995, the Festival houses the flagship Design Indaba Conference, the new, immersive Nightscape at Design Indaba and 5-city screenings at our simulcast venues. From Conference talks by industry greats like Es Devlin to performances by artists like Zaki Ibrahim to immersive experiences in food, design and exhibition, the Design Indaba Festival is where creativity meets impact.

Nightscape at Design Indaba is a festival like no other. Featuring a curated programme that includes top notch musical acts, a range of art and design installations, our annual FilmFest, and some of the best street food Cape Town has to offer, it is an immersive experience of both local and international creativity. Taking place on the Artscape Piazza, this year’s Nightscape line-up features a range of diverse artists including leader of the noirwave, Petite Noir; Sci-fi soul songstress Zaki Ibrahim; Thor Rixon live set, Steloolive, the Ghanaian sound artist and more. Back for Design Indaba 2018, Li Edelkoort’s annual trend forecast seminar will again expose curious minds to the coming season’s shifting trends. One of the festival’s most anticipated events, this year’s seminar will be held in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, giving attendees across the country the opportunity to hear from the internationally renowned Dutch trend forecaster and to discover how trends – from fashion and style, to design concepts and more – are emerging in a world in transition.
From 21 - 23 February, we’ll be hosting celebrated chef Bertus Basson in a special pop-up restaurant at Artscape Theatre. Basson, who’s behind restaurants Bertus Basson at Spice Route, Spek & Bone, The Deck at Hidden Valley, and Overture, has prepared a bespoke menu inspired by South African flavours.
