THIS BODY - POETRY SHOWCASE

This body is a poetry showcase by Vuyelwa Maluleke and Ashley Makue.

Titled, “this body is”, the show explores the body’s own definitions and experiences - named from the flesh, blood, marrow, bone, skin and senses.

According to the two, this bold statement brings the body into awareness of itself as full and absolute. Unembellished by the outsiders gaze and experience.

“’This body is’ is a collage of poems around the notion of body as a social, political and personal site, the poems explore the body as home and place of conflict and illness and rest” says Malukeke.
