This intriguing story is of a woman in search of her dreams and herself. Set in a Shebeen in contemporary South Africa. Nongogo/Queeny is a powerful woman who must struggle to succeed in the face of the structural violence of the township. The play explores the struggles for self-fulfillment and belonging under Apartheid, as Queenie tries to build a new life and relationships but finds her past as a sex worker, referred to as a "nongogo" (prostitute), continues to haunt and define her.
