The story begins in a small Austrian Village where a reclusive toymaker, Dr. Coppelius, has a beautiful daughter, Coppelia, who spends her time sitting and reading, not noticing Swanhilda, a mischievous girl who desperately wants Coppelia's attention. The towns folk gather in the town square, but their festivities are interrupted when Dr. Coppelius accidentally sets off a small explosion. Swanhilda explains that Dr. Coppelia is eccentric and makes dolls. The festivities continues until the Villagers go home. Later Dr. Coppelius leaves her house to go to the pub and is pestered by Swanhilda's friends. Join Bev Pitout School of Ballet to find out what Swanhilda and her friends are up to.
