This presentation of light-hearted musical entertainment was prepared by W.S Gilbert – librettist – and Sir Arthur Sullivan. Together, between 1871 and 1896, they created around fourteen operettas, of which The Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore and The Mikado are the best known. During this lecture listeners will enjoy music still frequently performed throughout the English-speaking world, especially by school groups and university choral societies.
